The MFA Book Arts Program is situated within the School for Library and Information Studies, and as part of the application process and you will find a financial aid form to fill out at https://slis.ua.edu/current-students/scholarships/. Go ahead and fill the form out when beginning the application process so that we know about your intent and need. There are some scholarship funds available through SLIS, as well as through the Book Arts Program.

The MFA Program annually awards four graduate assistantships that offer half-tuition waivers, some support for student health insurance, and a stipend of $3375 per semester.

We award three Windgate Fellowships for a first, second, and third-year student each year. The first-year Fellowship is awarded to an applicant who we believe will be as excellent fit with our program. The Statement of Purpose is an important area of your application, so we can get to know you and learn about your interest in pursuing this degree at Alabama.

Our program currently accepts students from residents of Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee through a program called the Academic Common Market (ACM). It allows out-of-state students to receive in-state tuition. We can assist you with the ACM if you are interested in learning more.

If you have any questions about this please contact one of the Book Arts faculty members, and we will be happy to help.
