Student Spotlight – December 2020
Anita Delp, a current student at UA SLIS and employee of the Cecil County Public Library in Maryland, and her team were awarded Employee of the Year by the Citizens for Maryland Libraries. Additionally, Katelyn McLimans (MLIS ’18) is the Youth Services supervisor for the library! A link to the Facebook post can be found here. Juliana Mestre had a paper from Dr. Elmborg’s Professional Paths class in Fall 2019 published online on November 26. Mestre’s essay critiques technology-centered makerspaces, highlighting potential drawbacks such as cost, threats to library autonomy, and “an adherence to design epistemology that overvalues the monetization of knowledge products.” The essay can be found here.
Greg Peverill-Conti, a first semester MLIS student, working with his business partner Adam Zand, have achieved non-profit status for their new initiative The Library Land Project. This achievement was featured in Library Journal here.
